Routine Dental Treatment: If you are already registered with an NHS dentist and need to make an appointment for routine treatment, please contact your dental practice directly.
You can apply for an NHS dentist place online using the Dental Access Portal if:
- You are aged 16 or over (parents/guardians can apply for under 16s)
- You do not currently have a routine NHS dentist
- And you have not had routine NHS dental treatment in Wales in the past four years (your previous dental practice should be able to offer you an appointment if you have had treatment with them in the last four years.)
- And you live at an address in Swansea Bay for more than six months of the year, or are registered with a GP in Swansea Bay.
You can use the Dental Access Portal to apply for a place with an NHS dentist as an individual and you can add someone else, such as a child under 16. You can also apply on behalf of others, such as a family member, friend or someone you care for or have a trusted relationship with.
Please use the following website link to access the Dental Access Portal: Apply for an NHS Dental Place - Dental Access Portal
If you cannot apply online, please call the Swansea Bay Dental Helpline on 01639 683223, where you will be able to leave a message for a member of the team to call you back.
If you are eligible and apply, you will be contacted when a suitable place becomes available. The health board is unable to provide you with information on where you are on the list or when you will be allocated a dentist.
Please do not ring the above number to check where you are in the queue, you will be contacted as soon as possible.
Urgent Dental Services: If you have a regular dentist and are experiencing dental pain, you should contact your dental practice for advice on how to manage your problems and where appropriate you should be provided with an urgent appointment.
If you do not have a regular dentist or have an urgent dental problem outside normal working hours, please call 111 for advice and help in finding an urgent dental appointment if required.
