    Care During Pregnancy

    Antenatal care is delivered at by midwifery teams across the health board and you will be assigned a midwife once registering your pregnancy.  You may see an obstetrician if you require additional support.  Your midwife will make an appointment to see you at the start of your pregnancy this is known as the ‘booking’ appointment. At this appointment you will be asked about your pregnancy, birth choices, medical history and offer you information on the variety of screening test available to you.  You can contact the call centre for midwifery on 01874 622443.

    What to do if I am experiencing complications? 

    If you have a pregnancy related concern, you should contact your local midwife as soon as possible.  You can contact 01874 622443 to discuss any concerns and the midwives will inform you where to go or what to do.   

    Where can I give birth? 

    You can give birth at home, a birth centre or a labour ward.  The birth centres in Powys Teaching Health Board are: 

    - Victoria War Memorial Community Hospital

    - Montgomery County Infirmary 

    - Llanidloes War Memorial Community Hospital 

    - Llandrindod Wells Memorial Community Hospital

    - Brecon War Memorial Community Hospital 

    - Knighton Community Hospital

    To access a labour ward, please discuss this with your midwife.  To discuss birthing options, you need to contact your midwife or the central call centre on 01874 622443.
