Callers can contact the number to arrange health care clinical waste provision from the home, collection would include clinical waste such as contaminated dressing packs, sharps boxes.
For hygiene waste different local authorities now use different colour bags for hygiene waste. Individuals need to register for collections with their local authority and then they will arrange delivery of the bags and provide a collection schedule.
Pharmacies will also provide waste services. You can find a participating pharmacy by searching on the NHS 111 Wales website with your location and filter for ‘Return of Patients Sharps Boxes’. If you required syringe or needle exchange, use the 'Syringe and Needle Exchange' filter.
Exclusions: Collection will not be arranged for sharps boxes 1 litre or less, these must be returned to a local pharmacy. Hygiene waste bags will not be accepted, e.g. catheter/stoma bag and incontinence pads; contact your local authority customer services teams to regiater for hygiene waste collections.
