Summary
Finding out you are pregnant
When you have found out you are pregnant, you can complete the online form to reguster your pregnancy or call your GP surgery and you will be allocated a named midwife who will be based within your GP surgery.
Care During Pregnancy
Antenatal care is delivered at by midwifery teams across the health board and you will be assigned a midwife once registering your pregnancy. Once you have filled in a booking form, a midwife will be assigned to you and will contact you. Should you require any support in the meantime contact Tirion Birth Centre on 01443 443524 who will able to signpost you to the correct team.
You may see an obstetrician if you have pre-existing medical conditions, develop complications in your pregnancy or require additional support during birth. A midwife will care for you alongside an obstetrician.

What to do if I am experiencing complications?
If you have a pregnancy related concern, you should contact your local midwife as soon as possible. You can also contact Tirion Birth Centre 01443 443524 for 24 hours, 7 days a week for advice. Alternatively, you can contact the Maternity Priority Unit in Prince Charles Hospital on 07442 865989 or The Princess of Wales Hospital on 01656 753652.
Where can I give birth?
You may choose to give birth at home, should this be your choice then this can be discussed with your community midwife during your birth discussion.
Your midwife or consultant will discuss your options with you and help you in deciding. Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend has an antenatal clinic and day assessment unit, midwifery led birthing rooms, birthing pool, and neonatal services. Contact the labour ward on 01656 752383 or 01656 752387.
At Royal Glamorgan Hospital, women and birthing people can attend the Tirion Birth Centre, a freestanding, midwifery led unit. This is a home from home environment used by women whose pregnancies are low risk. Tirion also offers support postnatally to those who may require further breastfeeding support. Contact the birth centre on 01443 443524.
In Merthyr Tydfil, Prince Charles Hospital has an antenatal clinic, day assessment unit, triage assessment service, birthing pools, obstetric unit and Tair Afon Alongside Midwifery Led Unit. Neonatal services are also available at this location. Contact the labour ward on 01685 728890.
