Summary
If you have a life-threatening emergency, please attend the Emergency Department.
If you have an urgent but not life-threatening medical need, please visit NHS 111 online or phone NHS 111 England before going straight to A&E. If you get through to NHS 111 Wales, they will not be able to book a slot for you.
The Emergency Department deals with life-threatening emergencies such as (but not limited to):
- Loss of conciousness
- A sudden confused state
- Fits that are not stopping
- Chest pain
- Breathing difficulties
- Severe bleeding that cannot be stopped
- Severe allergic reactions
- Severe burns or scalds
- Stroke
- Major trauma
- Feelings of self-harm or suicide.
