Communicating with the ambulance staff when they arrive

If English is not your first language, we can use Language Line to get an interpreter to interpret what the crew say when they are with you. Ask for Language Line and the name of your language in English.

There are also some things that you can use to help give us the information that we need.

You can show them something with your name, date of birth and address.

If the patient has a prescription, you could show that.

You can use a medical information card.?

Complete all the information, like your name, date of birth, medical history and medications (in English) and show it to staff.

If you would like a medical information card, email PECI.Team@wales.nhs.uk

This can be helpful to tell crews about any medical conditions that the patient has, such as diabetes, or sickle cell.
