Vikings point guard Patrick Peterson decided to change his jersey from No. 14 to No. 7

A few days after the League approved the proposed change in the jersey number, Patrick Peterson decided to wear the old number he used in college.

Peterson announced on Sunday in his “all things covered” podcast that he would wear the No. 7 Jersey he wore at Louisiana State University, according to the Vikings’ official website.

Previously, the Vikings’ No. 7 Jersey was owned by Nate Stanley, the seventh round draft quarterback in 2020.

As a result of the change, Peterson will donate new shoulder protectors to the football program of Stanley’s alma mater menomoni high school in Wisconsin. And Stanley will now wear the No. 14 Jersey.

Peterson, 30, signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings in March.
